How to Study for Free in Canada

I often get that question from international students looking to come to Canada to study and, well, the hard truth is that there really isn’t any way to study completely free in Canada.. However, there are lots of ways to reduce the cost of your international education.

Choose a program and college that works for your budget

With approximately 250 Colleges and Universities in Canada, each with a different tuition fee, there is likely to be a program that is affordable for your specific education needs and budget. At LDP Immigration Consulting, I work with a team of professional education consultants who are familiar with almost every program of study available in Canada. We are going to find options for your specific budget and program of study and then help you create your best possible application to the school to get your acceptance.

Scholarships

Did you know that many Canadian schools offer scholarships to international students? This can really help reduce your cost significantly. Each scholarship program has its’ own criteria; some are automatically awarded to students coming with a high GPA, others require a bit of work on your part with an essay or a study proposal and application.

Work in Canada

As an international student in Canada, you are given the right to work while you are here on a study permit. This work needs to be kept at a part-time level during school term but can be full time during your school breaks and over the term breaks.

Keep your budget costs low

There are lots of ways to keep your costs low while studying in Canada. Start by finding an affordable place to live that is close to your campus then you can walk to classes. How about sharing your accommodations with other international students? What a great way to make new friends and spend time with other international newcomers. Learn to cook at home rather than go out for meals. It’s much less expensive to prepare your own meals and if you have roommates, maybe everyone could share this responsibility and then you get to try new things.

Being an international student in Canada is an exciting and rewarding experience. Canada is safe, welcoming and offers lots of opportunities for students to stay in Canada permanently and become permanent residents and citizens.

If you are thinking about exploring a study permit for Canada and seeking an immigration consultant who will provide this level of guidance and professionalism, I would be happy to meet with you to understand your immigration goals and see how you might start your Canadian Immigration journey.
