What is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant?

People often wonder what a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) actually is. What do we do, what is our background, what type of training have we had?

An RCIC must complete a college level program of study. At the time of my study, I took the program through the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants*, (CSIC), I graduated with an Immigration Practitioner Diploma: Laws, Policies and Procedures.

The study program was only the beginning! After receiving my diploma, I was required to sit for an “Entry to Practice” exam – a grueling three-hour marathon of immigration questioning. That is only the beginning of my education commitments though. Being part of a regulated profession means that I am required to complete professional development education every year. Although the minimum is sixteen hours, I really enjoy learning and staying current in my field so I am involved in well over fifty hours of professional development programs each year.

I pay annual dues to the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC), to maintain my license to practice, I  hold professional Errors and Omissions Insurance, and I submit annual reports to prove that I am compliant with all the regulations of my profession.

So, if you want to work, live or study in Canada I will bring my deep expertise in immigration to support you and work towards making your immigration goals a reality. I start off by first understanding your goals for immigration. I will take my time explaining the immigration and citizenship options that are available for your unique situation. I will help you to understand and choose the best program for you and your situation. I will research specific requirements for your country of origin, and I will complete and submit your application along with supporting documents and communicate with the Government of Canada on your behalf.

Your opportunity to immigrate to Canada is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, a professional Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant like myself can help you to ensure you are making the most effective application possible. We understand the regulations, the immigration processes and will guide you along your path to Canada.

If you’re seeking an immigration consultant who will provide this level of guidance and professionalism, I would be happy to meet with you to understand your immigration goals and see how you might start your Canadian Immigration journey. Let me help you build your life in Canada. Contact me and learn more through my website at www.ldpimmigration.ca

*( The Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants, CSIC, was  the original regulator for our profession. From 2011 to 2021 we were governed by the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council. ICCRC and in 2021 we were excited to announce that the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants will take over the licensing, regulatory and education credentialing of our profession.
